GIRAFFE MANOR INSIDER TIPS

November 6, 2026 by Cathy

A giraffe leans over a breakfast table at Giraffe Manor in Nairobi, a bucket-list moment on a Kenya journey with a Fort Collins luxury travel advisor.

These Giraffe Manor insider tips come straight from my recent stay. Last week I shared my excitement before leaving for Kenya. Now I can tell you what it’s really like. Spoiler alert: the giraffes absolutely lived up to the hype. Consider this your personal guide from someone who just slept there.

Welcome to the Betty Room at Giraffe Manor! ✨ Co

Welcome to the Betty Room at Giraffe Manor! ✨

Come take a quick tour of one of the most magical rooms in the entire world. 🦒👇

Located right in the original 1932 historic manor house, the Betty Superior Room perfectly blends old-world Art Deco charm with a view that is straight out of a storybook. Inside, you’ll find a cozy fireplace, the iconic portrait of Betty the giraffe, and beautiful vintage details.

But the real magic happens right outside that window. The Betty Room is one of the exclusive rooms here that features its very own adjoining balcony. When 5:00 AM rolls around, you don't even have to leave your room for breakfast service—the resident Rothschild giraffes will poke their heads right up to the front window and balcony looking for their favorite morning treats! 🪵🧺

Would you book a stay here? Drop a 🦒 if this is on your ultimate travel bucket list!

One hour with mountain gorillas can shape an entir

One hour with mountain gorillas can shape an entire journey.

Rwanda’s treks take place in Volcanoes National Park. In Uganda, the options are Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga Gorilla National Parks. On a standard trek, time with the gorillas is limited to one hour once you find them; the walk can take several hours.

A detail that matters when planning Uganda: Bwindi has four trekking sectors. The permit location helps guide the lodge choice and transfers, so those reservations need to work together.

Be candid with me about your comfort on steep, uneven ground. I can discuss the route, timing, and support with local partners while checking permit availability. The forest has its own pace, and it deserves space in the itinerary.

If this trip has been on your list for years, let’s work through the practical questions together.

🦒✨ Welcome to Giraffe Manor!

I've dreamed of visiting this incredible property in Nairobi, Kenya, and now I'm finally here!

From the moment I walked through the front entrance, I knew this was going to be something special. The beautiful interiors, charming rooms, and old-world elegance make Giraffe Manor feel like stepping into another era. ❤️

Of course, the real celebrities here have four legs, long necks, and absolutely no respect for personal space! 🦒😂

Come along as I give you a little peek inside one of Africa's most unique luxury hotels. And stay tuned... the giraffes are coming!

Still thinking about this magical safari at Sambur

Still thinking about this magical safari at Samburu National Reserve! 🇰🇪✨

Northern Kenya really hits different. Far from the crowds, we spent our days tracking wildlife along the Ewaso Nyiro River and honestly, the views alone were worth it. But the wildlife sightings? Absolutely unforgettable. 🐾

We were incredibly lucky to see majestic elephant herds crossing the riverbed, beautiful reticulated giraffes peeking over the acacia trees, and even managed to spot both cheetahs and a leopard hiding perfectly in the brush! 🐆🦒🐘

But my absolute favorite highlight had to be seeing the Gerenuk (that’s the famous "stand-up antelope" or "giraffe gazelle" for anyone else who forgot the name!). Seeing them completely balance upright on their hind legs just to munch on the highest leaves was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen in the wild. 🦌🌿

Samburu, you have my heart. Counting down the days until I can get back to the red dust and golden hours. 🌅🌍
