Giraffe Manor Insider Tips
These Giraffe Manor insider tips come straight from my recent stay. Last week I shared my excitement before leaving for Kenya. Now I can tell you what it’s really like. Spoiler alert: the giraffes absolutely lived up to the hype. Consider this your personal guide from someone who just slept there.
A Historic 1932 Nairobi Manor
Walking in feels like stepping back to 1932. The manor keeps its original architecture and style. Thoughtful updates add comfort without erasing the old-world charm. Ivy climbs the brick walls outside tall paned windows. Inside, every corner feels storied and personal.
Staff members were amazing and incredibly accommodating. Nothing ever seemed like too much trouble for them. That warmth made a magical place feel even more special.
Why I Loved the Betty Room
My room was Betty, and I’d happily book it again. It isn’t the biggest room, but it’s a decent size. Space isn’t really the point here, though. What makes Betty special is the giraffe access.
Its windows let you start feeding right from inside. Then you step onto a big balcony to keep going. Two feeding spots in one room felt like a real bonus.
Set Your Alarm Early
My alarm went off at 5 a.m., and I don’t regret it. Giraffes begin wandering up to the windows early. Sleep in, and you’ll miss heads poking through the frames. Coffee can wait, trust me on this one.
Eddy quickly became my favorite morning visitor. He’s the biggest and tallest giraffe of the bunch. That height made him the perfect balcony guest. After the window feeding, we moved outside together. Eye to eye with a giraffe at sunrise? Pure joy.
The Famous Breakfast Photos
Next comes the iconic breakfast moment you’ve seen online. Giraffes lean over the table and eat pellets right before you. Meanwhile, staff take photos and videos on your behalf. You simply enjoy the moment instead of juggling your phone (even better, the staff do the pictures for you so you dont have to). Expect lots of laughter, and maybe a little giraffe slobber (actually quite a bit haha).
Don’t Miss the Evening Visit
The fun actually starts the evening before. Next door, the Giraffe Centre stops visitor feedings at 5 p.m. Once those crowds leave, the giraffes stroll over to the manor. Think of it as their nightly meet and greet. Arrive by late afternoon so you don’t miss it.
One Night or Two
Many guests book just one night here. Honestly, I wish I’d stayed for two. A single night gives you one evening and one morning. Everything happens fast, and you’ll want to savor it. A second night lets you relax between giraffe visits. If your schedule allows, my advice is to book two. Rooms are limited, so plan well ahead.
Your Own Giraffe Manor Moment
Some places live up to the hype, and this is one. Waking at 5 a.m. has never felt so worthwhile. Planning a Kenya safari? Let’s fit Giraffe Manor in at the right moment. I’ll help you choose the room, the nights, and the timing. But this one books out early (like over a YEAR) so definitely plan early for this experience. From Fort Collins to Nairobi, Amore Travel Designs has you covered. Eddy will be waiting, and he’ll definitely be hungry. Let’s chat!
