YOUR ITALY WINDOW

Why 2026 Starts Now

Your Italy Window is something most travelers don’t realize exists until it quietly begins to close. Almost every year, I have conversations with clients who tell me they are “thinking about Italy next year,” as if Italy is simply waiting patiently for them to decide. And in many ways it is timeless — the art, the food, the landscapes will always be there — but the hotels, the private guides, and the most coveted experiences absolutely will not.

As a luxury travel advisor based in Fort Collins, I am already having serious conversations about Italy for 2026. That might sound early, but in today’s travel environment, it is exactly on time. The families who secure the charming 30-room boutique hotel in Florence or the villa in Tuscany with the sweeping vineyard views are not making those decisions three months out. They are planning thoughtfully, intentionally, and well in advance.

Italy rewards the prepared. It does not reward hesitation.

What Actually Books First

Most people assume flights are the first challenge when planning Europe. In reality, it is the experience layer that fills first. The intimate cooking class with a local chef in Bologna, the private early-entry Vatican tour, the driver who knows how to navigate the Amalfi Coast efficiently in high season, and the boutique hotels that give a trip its charm — those are secured far earlier than most travelers expect.

Italy has seen sustained demand for several years now, and the properties that deliver authentic luxury intentionally keep their room counts small. That exclusivity is part of what makes them special, but it also means there is very little margin for last-minute decisions.

When clients come to me early, we are choosing from the very best. When they wait, we are often adjusting expectations. The trip can still be wonderful, but it may not look like the one they originally envisioned.

Why Strategy Changes Everything

Italy is not difficult to visit. It is difficult to design well. The order of cities, the pacing between regions, and the time of year all shape the experience in ways that are not obvious from an online search.

Florence in June feels very different from Florence in October. The Amalfi Coast in May offers a completely different energy than it does in late July. Even something as simple as adding an extra night in one region can transform a trip from rushed to restorative.

When we plan early, we have room to think strategically. We can align destinations with your travel style, balance iconic highlights with quieter moments, and ensure that your hotels feel like an extension of your personality rather than a compromise. That is the difference between checking boxes and truly immersing yourself in Italy.

If Italy Is Quietly Calling

If Italy has been lingering in the back of your mind — perhaps for an anniversary, a retirement, or simply because you have always wanted to go — this is the time to start the conversation. Not because you need to rush, but because thoughtful planning gives you more choices, more control, and ultimately a better experience.

The earlier we begin, the more intentional your journey becomes. We secure the right properties, the right guides, and the right rhythm for your days. You travel with confidence, knowing that every detail has been considered long before you step on the plane.

Italy will always be magical. The difference lies in how you experience it. And that begins with planning at the right time.
