SECURITY LINES

Security Lines

I just returned from Italy on Sunday, and walking through our airport in Denver, I was flabbergasted by the long security lines. They were wrapping all the way around the baggage claim areas. There were so many stressed travelers standing in these lines, that I thought this might be a moment for another blog post about the security lines at the airports.

Planning Ahead

One of the best recommendations right now would be to plan ahead for these lines. Gone are the days of arriving to the airport a mere 30 minutes or so before the flight. After 9/11 it became apparent that we had to make a day out of traveling now. Planning to be at the airport in plenty of time to “wait” in these lines is definitely one tactic to consider. I will also add a few more tips below that might “speed” things up.

Plan ahead for more time

TSA Precheck

TSA Precheck used to be the most popular way to avoid the long security lines. Of course, this depends on the airports you are visiting as to whether this will help you out. But with TSA pre, you don’t have to remove your shoes, jackets, pull out the laptop and all the liquids, etc. You can keep all of your items in your bag and just send them through the scanner. This is certainly a time saver at the airport. The next tip will make this one even faster!

Clear

Why I am mentioning Clear? Its the new hot item at the airport to speed up the lines. In the Denver International Airport, having Clear means you walk up to the little kiosks, it scans your eyes and/or your fingerprints and an agent walks you to the TSA guard and all you have to do is show your boarding pass. You don’t even need to pull out your ID. In our airport, with Clear and TSA pre, you zoom right through the airport security lines. No need to pull out things, including the passport. So I have both of them!

Clear - eye scan

So these are just a few tips that will make your trip to the airport much less stressful. Be aware of the processes and options in your “home airport” to be sure you are ready for your next adventure. If you are not sure yet where your next adventure is, I would love to chat with you.
