BEAUTIFUL BEACHES IN BELIZE

Beautiful Beaches in Belize

For as small as Belize is, it actually makes up a fair amount of tourism in Central America. A former colony of the British, it offers a primarily English-speaking area for many American, Canadian, and British tourists. A small country that, despite the title, has so much more than simple beaches to offer. But who also would not want to explore the beautiful beaches in Belize?

Watch The Wildlife

Belize is a small country yet has a terrific culture of conservation and local wildlife. Visitors can go to the Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary to spot many different birds. If you prefer large cats (like jaguars), a better one to visit would be the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary.

For those who might not want to see the “wild” part of nature, the Belize Zoo has you covered. It exhibits over 125 animals native to Belize and covers 29-acres of land. It is only open from Friday to Sunday, so you will want to plan accordingly for that.

If aquatic animals are more your preference, Belize has plenty of those too. The Hol Chan Marine Reserve is the largest in the country and allows for plenty of activity. You can go snorkeling and diving to see some of the region’s fish, as well as underwater flora and coral. The Shark Ray Alley is only a short distance away, allowing for some up-close-and-personal interactions with sharks and rays.

Explore the History of the Area

Belize has a much longer history than simply being a British colony. Altun Ha is one of the main attractions for the area. It’s a series of ruins of the ancient Mayan city, with the largest temple being the “Temple of the Masonry Altars”. The climb to the top of the temple offers an unparalleled view of the surrounding area.

Another remnant of the Mayans is located in the Cayo District of Belize. It is called Xunantunich and is located amidst a series of surrounding hills. Once again, you can see remnants of the Mayan civilization here and marvel at what once was. The “El Castillo” pyramid is the standout feature here, although it shouldn’t be confused with the “El Castillo” at Chichen Itza.

Breath Lightly on The Beaches’

It only seems fitting that we mention the beaches available in the region. After all, Belize is a region with an entire border facing the ocean. It also has smaller islands that sit off the mainland, which are extremely popular with tourists. The two most popular of these islands are Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker. Both of these islands of places to eat, drink, relax and enjoy the world around you. Ambergris Caye is the larger and more expensive of the two, but both offer their own unique glance at island life.

Belize

Regardless of who is visiting, Belize offers something new for all. There’s history, relaxation, nature, food, drink, along with entertainment. All of this for a fairly reasonable price. What else could you want on a vacation to central America?
