EU VACCINATION ANNOUNCEMENTS

So what is new on the EU Vaccination Announcements? On Monday, August 30, 2021, the EU announced that they “might” recommend the US to be removed from the safe countries to accept into their countries. Of course, this was another “oh no” moment for me, a travel advisor who focuses on this region. The next day, they recommended that the US not travel to the EU except for nonessential travel. The reason for this was the rising number of cases of covid-19 among the unvaccinated people in the USA.

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR US

So what does that mean?  As of today, September 3rd, 2021, nothing!  None of the countries have rolled back their policy to not allow Americans into their countries. Each individual country gets to decide for themselves if they will allow us in or not. It also means they choose if they wish to add any new rules to their entry process.

COVID-10 Vaccinations

DO YOU HAVE TO BE VACCINATED?

Currently, the answer is no to that too (in some countries).  You can travel if you are not vaccinated, however, you will have to be constantly testing if you are not.  Most restaurants, museums, and indoor locations are requiring that you have proof of vaccination, or a negative PCR test every 48 hours if you are not vaccinated.  As a result, this could get pricey for sure, as all costs are the travelers’ responsibility.  For the UK and Italy, you have to be vaccinated if you don’t wish to quarantine.

WHERE CAN I GET THE ANSWERS ABOUT WHAT IS REQUIRED?

This is ever-changing, but the best site I have found for this information is Sherpa!  You can enter your origin country and where and when you are going. Then, you can read the rules and regulations for each country.  It’s by far the best “pooled” resource we currently have.  You can visit the Sherpa site here.

IS IT WORTH TRAVELING?

If you are vaccinated and have the wanderlust to travel, it’s a wonderful time to visit other countries because the amount of people is less, which provides a great experience.  However, if you are not vaccinated, it’s probably not the best time because it will be cumbersome and expensive to be testing constantly and/or quarantining as well.  If you are ready to plan an amazing trip, please send me an email. I would be happy to connect and see if we are a good fit to work together.  Having a travel advisor on your side has never been more important. We are here to walk you through the rules, regulations, and ever-changing plans of traveling these days.
