I can now say from firsthand experience: Malta should absolutely be on your bucket list!

Gozo

I am just back from the trip of a lifetime! The trip was curated by Visit Malta for top Virtuoso travel advisors… of which I was lucky enough to be one.

As part of the immersive learning trip, I visited Malta’s stunning landscapes across its three (very) different islands. I had been looking forward to traveling to this part of the world for a long time, and it did not disappoint. From Michelin-starred dining to rustic farm experiences plus artistic masterpieces and historic architecture, everything about this trip provided a unique glimpse into the culture of Malta.

I have included a few highlights from the trip below that I hope might inspire you follow in my footsteps.

What struck me most about Malta was:

• The gorgeous natural scenery of turquoise waters lapping against the cliffs
• Delicious local flavors including goat cheese and wines found only here
• UNESCO-listed Valletta, the city founded by founding Knights of St. John, with cobblestone streets and historic churches
• The small island of Gozo’s laid-back, rural charm
• Ancient catacombs and megalithic temples
• Communication is easy (English is one of Malta’s official languages) and it’s going to get even easier to get there: from June 7th Delta will have a nonstop flight from JFK.

• Enjoy wine tastings at Marsovin and Ta’Betta estates, sampling indigenous grape varieties: Girgentina (white) and Ġellewża (red).
• Visit a local glass-blowing studio
• Take a quad biking tour across Gozo
• Visit the Megalithic temples. Built from 3600-2500 BCE, they are some of the oldest free-standing structures on Earth
• Relax on rugged or sandy beaches with crystal clear waters
• Explore the historic art and architecture of Valletta, including Caravaggio’s masterpieces in St John’s Co-Cathedral
